About Me

Hello, and thanks for stopping by my website.
john1.jpgMy name is John Hodgetts. My involvement with music began at the age of 7, when I started to play the electronic organ, launching a musical career which has taken me to many countries and many musical performances, alongside world-famous musicians including James Burton, Glen D Hardin, Ronnie Tutt and Jerry Scheff, The Sweet Inspirations, The Stamps Quartet and The Imperials, (who all performed on Elvis Presley’s live tours) as well as members of The Electric Light Orchestra and other popular artists.

Today, I am still very much a live performance artist, playing both solo and in several groups, covering a wide variety of styles, from rock and pop to jazz and classical music. I am equally at home in large concert halls as I am in small intimate venues, wedding receptions and recording studios.

I have “perfect pitch”, which means as soon as I listen to a new song, I can usually play it straight away complete with chords, without needing to see the sheet music first. This enables me to have a wide-ranging, instant repertoire. I carry hundreds (if not thousands – I’ve never stopped to count!) of tunes in my head, which helps me when an audience member has a special request for their favourite, and I can improvise my own arrangements and solos on the spot, in any key. As well as playing by ear, I am an excellent sight-reader, which comes in handy when presented with new music at short notice.

I have more than 25 years experience as a music teacher and have many pupils of all ages who have been successful in examinations, some even becoming performers and teachers themselves!

If my musical talents can be of service to you, then please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Best Regards

John
